Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer as a consultant, columnist syndicated, speaker as an author, author, and television presenter. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001 and shortly thereafter , the company was sold. Corcoran was a participant in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. Corcoran has signed 53 deals in February, 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was the second of 10 children from a working-class Irish-Catholic family was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a household worker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved from job to job during Corcoran's childhood. Her family depended sometimes on food delivered by the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran remembers her father, one who would drink excessively, and treated her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed a few drinks. Corcoran was a struggling pupil throughout her schooling. Later, she discovered she had dyslexia. Corcoran started high school in St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was fluent in several courses her first year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
